University of Alabama
Founded in Tuscaloosa in 1820, the University of Alabama is the oldest and largest public university in the state of Alabama. The Crimson Tide football team, started in 1892, has won 25 SEC championships and 9 national championships (Associated Press). Their home-field is at Bryant–Denny Stadium, which was opened in 1929. The men’s and women’s basketball teams play at Coleman Coliseum, which opened in 1968.
